COMODO has finally released an update that addresses a long time problem that I’ve reported and this time they fixed it. They went for a bit strange implementation, but it works like I wanted it. So, there’s that. Use the updater if you’re an existing CIS user or download the full package below if you want to give it a try.
COMODO Internet Security is a full featured internet security suite with antivirus, firewall, sandboxing, optional HIPS system and many other features, completely free. It has its quirks like any program but in general it’s a very good alternative to other free security programs.
What’s new in build 6.2.285401.2860 ?
FIXED!“Do not show this message again” does not work while updater is running
IMPROVED! HIPS menu item in system tray icon menu (advanced view mode only)
IMPROVED! Added ability to sandbox unknown apps directly without privilege elevation dialog

Hi RejZoR,
Thanks! The previous CIS version didn’t play well with the Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and I’d asked about the issue on the COMODO forums and all they said to me is to add my system to the bug report. It already had been filed by another user for the same thing. Not enthused doing so knowing that it’ll be dragging for months. Other than that I haven’t had a problem.
“Thats why i rarely use VT because it’s just a brain dead on-demand scanner. I prefer to toss malware in Comodo CAMAS or Norman Sandbox and read the sumamry myself…”
I agreed with you, really. I disliked you in the past. I’m taking it back I’m sorry. I pay attention to you very closely for my own education purpose. I haven’t visit to your blog for a while but I’ve subscribed RSS feeds so I can instantly look up what’s new. Your straight indicative issues has a much in-depth to a problem solving and that’s not easy for the most people and I do thank you for that.
A personal question if I may, how many languages can you speak? I’d admire the people who spoke more than two languages.
Best regards,
Laurence
